The Bronx Charter School for Excellence's is a public school, but it only gets 67.7% of the public funding per pupil that a regular public school receives. Furthermore, it receives no funding for facilities. This means, the Bronx Charter School for Excellence, must raise private philanthropy to cover the gap between what the school receives from the government to educate its students and the actual cost that it incurs per pupil. As the school grows and we move to complete our home in Parkchester, BCSE will have to rely on the generosity of foundations, corporations and individuals to ensure our school will be able to successfully fulfill its mission.
